Hello ?

Can I have help on this transition metals question please, I have tried it but am stuck on the circled parts.

(b) Vanadium ions have four common oxidation states. Table 18.1 shows the colours of the ions in aqueous solution.

(i) Complete the electron configuration of a v3+ ion.

(ii) The student adds excess iron to a solution containing VO2+(aq) ions, and observes that the colour of the solution changes from blue to green and then to voilet. Use the relevant standard electrode potentials shown in Table 18.2 to explan these observations.

(iii) Construct an equation for the first colour change from blue to green

Hi !!

For the first part of your question (b) (ii)

I have made a video on this https://examqa.com/forum/discussions/redox-electro-potential-question/#post-551

Have a look at this post please.

for Q18 a (ii) - Experiment 2 - Step 1 Reaction

use this to help you answer it - let me know if you still don't get it.

for Q18 (iv) - What ion causes a yellow ppt. Below is a summary of colours you should know.
