I found this rule in my textbook, which I've never seen in my life lol (And I finished A-Level Maths last year).
Still kinda confused about the rule.
if a^1/2 = √a
and we only take the positive root, why don't we do this if it's the other way round?
i.e. if √a = a^1/2, why do we take both the positive and negative roots if its basically the same thing as above?
