how hard is it to make a career out of writing books?

My dream life is to move to the countryside and make a living out of writing books, tutoring piano and languages, selling homegrown fruit and veg and wander through the woods and meadows for the rest of my days.

How likely is this to become real?

@niarobinson I think that if you are truly passionate about this then you can achieve anything! Just keep on chasing your dreams and work hard, that is what I think ❤️

@niarobinson I love writing as well, it helps to express your feelings, let your imagination run free and be yourself when I write it helps me escape the real world and explore another world in my mind, just like a dream, it is very surreal!

So you must express your passion in any way you can think of! Your aspirations are super cool and exciting so chase those dreams but remember nothing comes from a click of a finger, you need to work hard and think big, but I get what @leanorad means by making it a side hustle, maybe start off with another aspiration and work on that, then you will have enough money to move to the countryside and not have a care in the world other than doing the things you love and most definitely be the person you'd love to be!

Maybe do them as a side hustle for now until one of them takes off?

What do you mean by "side hustle"?

@niarobinson

Side hustle means focus on a main source of income (traditional sort of job) and in your spare time focus on these hobbies and try to come up with ways of making money from them. Basically a passive income

If you're serious about writing, try some writing competitions and build some momentum

this is a wonderful site - there are so many different types of competitions for creative writing

I believe it is realistic to be able to earn a comfortable living from a combination of: overseas language tuition, teaching English to foreign students and teaching school aged students to play the piano.
Earning extra incomes from selling farm grown produce and writing books is a possibility
