I’ve heard that it is best to take Maths A-Level if you want to apply to medicine as it can give you a ‘competitive advantage’. Why is this? Thanks

I think A-Level maths is considered to be a really hard a level qualification and most university admission officers recognise that
So if theyre deciding between 2 applications where one student does chem bio maths and the other student does chem bio sociology they might regard the first student as a bit more intelligent? Thats my theory behind it (although I do know that doing a combination of calculation based a levels and essay based a levels might be more advantageous compared to just bio chem maths so who knows ?♂️)
I think its actually a misconception doing maths a level increases your chance to do medicine
Fair enough its a hard A-Level, but if you're doing chem and bio that level of maths is literally the only type of maths you're gonna do at university. And I think admission officers know this
