Should I Become a FIFA Pro?

Let’s start with a bit of background on FIFA before we get started with the real thing. The Fédération Internationale de Football Association, (FIFA) is a non-profit organisation. It is an international governing body of association football,  fútsal, beach soccer, and efootball. It is the highest governing body of football.

FIFA was set up in 1904 with the purpose of overseeing international competition between national associations of  Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. FIFA is headquartered in Zurich and 211 national associations hold its membership.

FIFA’s responsibilities include promoting football’s major international tournaments and making efforts to ensure football is accessible to everyone. FIFA is also an advocate for integrity and fair play.

An important point to note is that FIFA does not solely set the rules of football. This is the responsibility of the International Football Association Board to which FIFA holds a membership.

Now with FIFA 20 out and first proper esports competitions finally being announced, a lot of FIFA players are contemplating whether or not to pursue a career as an esports athlete. More importantly, is it worth the hassle? Let’s get one thing straight, there’s a lot of money involved in the esports industry. And the same is applicable to FIFA.

In this article, we will explore the essential things future FIFA esports athletes need to bear in mind along with the pros and cons of entering this industry – both as an individual player and as a content creator. There is a lot that you need to look out for, so if you are seriously looking into this, then make a cup of tea and get cracking with this article!

Becoming a FIFA Pro: Dos

Maintain A Positive Mindset

Do you feel like you are struggling to win matches and nothing is going your way? And every opponent you interact with seems like a top 100 player? Believe me, it is not the end of the world. As unfair as FIFA seems and you can’t seem to get those two correct passes in, it does get better.

Whenever you feel frustrated, put down your controller for an hour or two. Divert your mind by doing something else and try to forget about past matches. You need to have other hobbies and interests besides FIFA if you want to ace at this game (yes, you read that right).

What’s the point of having other hobbies when FIFA is your one true hobby we hear you ask. Well, most importantly, they help you stay positive. They allow you to come back stronger than ever and better than before. Participate in something that involves actual physical activity such as running or even football. Why not put on those football boots and have a quick 4+1 with your friends? That should surely do the job!

Play Smart And Manage Your Time

Becoming a FIFA pro requires a lot of endurance. Not to mention, a proper FIFA Ultimate Team squad. You will need to work hard for coins and rely on pack luck to get an appropriate basis for your starting eleven. We are looking at back to back hours here.

Doing this every week can be frustrating. However, unless you are willing to spend money to acquire a competitive squad, there is really no other way.

Of course, not every single person can dedicate over 30 hours every week to FIFA. But that’s where your time management kicks in! The best thing would be to get all of your tasks done before you start playing the game. That way you won’t feel guilty while playing or have to worry about doing that piece of homework at 3 AM.

Learn From Your Mistakes

That one kind of goes without saying, doesn’t it? Of course, if you make the same mistakes over and over again, it won’t get you anywhere. It is okay to make mistakes; we all make them at some point. Instead, learn from your mistakes so that you don’t make them again. If you practice with this mindset, eventually there will be no more mistakes to make and you will be on top of your game (pun intended).

Moreover, don’t just learn from your own mistakes but learn from your peers as well. Being surrounded by friends who play the game at a high level can be an advantage. You might even get to play together at significant FIFA esports events.

Play In The ePremium League

Everyone based in the UK has a chance to represent a club and compete. There are no restrictions to it.

The lineups of the World Cup final

It might not be an easy avenue. However, a lot of people who wouldn’t normally get anywhere near qualifying otherwise can participate in this. It gives people a good chance of representing a club. And even better, by doing this you can get your name out there. This is an easier way to become a pro.

Learn To Play On Stage

Playing on stage can be really different. Man City’s Ryan Pessoa mentioned in an interview that when he started off, he had never played on stage before! It might feel weird to have cameras on you on stage or to play in front of other people.

However, he goes on to say that the only way to combat this feeling is to qualify for tournaments. Don’t worry, you will get used to it over time.

Becoming a FIFA Pro: Don’ts

Don’t Be Complacent

The worst thing you could do is strike a few wins and then get complacent. If you are not being critical with every single chance you get, you could very easily get punished. This is even more important when you are playing competitively. Don’t underestimate how good your opponents are. Play your best game consistently.

If the end whistle is going to blow soon and you are in a narrow lead, don’t attempt to squeeze in a screamer. Try to shield the ball, take possession, and hold onto it. And while you do that, let the time run out and enjoy the win.

Remember, there is no room for complacency in this game. The sooner you wrap your head around that, the better.

Don’t Roam Around Goalless

No, we are not talking about the in-game goals here. We are referring to the milestones you are supposed to set up and try to achieve them. This is the ideal way to challenge yourself, assess your strengths, and monitor your progress.

For instance, perhaps set the number of wins you need to have in the next Weekend League. If you attain this goal, set a higher number next weekend. Or, aim for a particular rank that you want to have at the end of a Rivals week. Keep aiming higher and it is these little goals that will differentiate good players from the very best ones.

Don’t Let The Lack Of Prize Money Deter You

This varies from person to person. Money might be one of your main reasons to get into this. However, don’t let it hinder you from gaining experiences.

Getting Recognition In The FIFA World

Now that we have covered the do’s and don’ts of becoming a FIFA pro, you need to start thinking about getting recognition. And this is very unlikely to happen simply through weekend league performances. However, in this day and age, everything is easily accessible. And the same can be said for FIFA-related exposure.

Searching For Online ESL Tournaments

Electronic Sports League features a whole lot of FIFA tournaments. If you are already able to bag Elite 1 on FUT Weekend Leagues consistently, maybe you should try your luck on ESL. Go4FIFA is entry-level. It has one cup on each week, and you can earn points here in order to qualify for the Monthly Final. On every Sunday players, who win at least one match, will receive points. The winner also receives an additional 50 EUR prize money.

Of course, as we previously mentioned, keep a positive mindset. Try not to crumble under the pressure. And believe us, there will be lots of pressure regardless of the amount of the prize money. Stay calm and composed. Have a game plan in mind and stick to it. Try to explore different tactical opportunities and this will be the door to your success!

Exploring Offline Events In Your Area

If ESL does not appeal to you, then offline tournaments might be your cup of tea. There’s a lot more to FIFA esports than big events like ePremier League or eFIFA World Cup. You will come across many smaller events that are held on a local level, especially if you are living in a big city.

Participating in these events will do a world of good on your way to becoming a FIFA pro. They are excellent for your budget. They either tend to sport a real money prize (few hundred euros/dollars, depending on your location) or opt for in-game coins (typically around 10k-50k).

Keeping An Eye Out For Other Opportunities

Apart from ESL tournaments and local events, engage in other ways which will help you make a name for yourself in the FIFA community. FIFA Reddit is an excellent starting place. Participate in community discussions and befriend a few people.

There are many good players out there and playing against them could serve you well in the long run.

How Much Do FIFA Pros Earn?

This is a difficult question and no one really knows how much each player earns per year or month. FIFA players get paid different amounts for a number of reasons. One of the reasons is how much social reach they have as an individual. Secondly, it also depends on how good their performances have been.

Becoming A FIFA YouTuber

Despite being good at FIFA, if you can’t seemingly beat the top 100 players and that’s holding you back, you could always try another FIFA-related career. For example, becoming a FIFA YouTuber!

If you think FIFA players earn a lot of money, you would be surprised to know just how much YouTubers like MattHDGamer and BorasLegend make! All you need is a camera, a microphone and basic video editing skills. Check out our article on becoming a YouTuber here https://examqa.com/should-i-become-a-youtuber/

A laptop screen with YouTube

Remember, YouTube and its algorithms can be tricky – money won’t come straightway. However, as long as you are making interesting content that keeps people engaged, your subscriber count will keep going up.

It might not be as fun as becoming a FIFA pro, but it can be just as much fun (and perhaps even more!).
